First Visit

Thank you for choosing our office for all your dental needs. We have created a comfortable environment where you can feel confident in the level of dental care you receive.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

During your first visit, our objective is to get to know you better, to become familiar with your past dental experiences and to establish a treatment plan that will best meet your current desires. When you arrive for your first visit, please be prepared to complete all insurance and health information forms. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to your appointment to complete the forms or feel free to download them from our website and save time.

Also, please assist us by providing the following information:

  • Any panoramic or full mouth X-ray taken within the past year and any dental X-ray taken within the last six months.
  • If you have dental insurance, please bring your insurance card. This will enable us to give you an estimate of your costs.

Comprehensive Exam

Your initial exam will last approximately one hour. Dr. Sayrs will perform a thorough exam. In most cases, we will also clean your teeth. Generally, X-rays will be taken, allowing your doctor to examine your mouth for teeth decay, periodontal problems, jaw problems and any signs of oral cancer. These diagnostic records will help your doctor provide an evaluation outlining any existing dental problems and proposed treatment. We encourage you to ask questions. We’ll be glad to discuss any concerns you may have.

New Patient “Happy Visit” for Children

During your child’s first visit to our office, we will schedule them for a "Happy Visit” that will get them acclimated to our office and our staff. During a “Happy Visit” we will do a variety of things to get them prepared for undergoing dental treatment, such as:

  • Counting all their teeth
  • Explaining about the dental instruments they see
  • Taking them for a ride in our adjustable office chair
  • Giving them a new toothbrush, toothpaste and floss to take home
  • Letting them find a prize in our treasure chest
  • Taking a photo with Dr. Sayrs to capture their first dental visit

Emergency Care Visits

We understand that emergencies do happen and often your first visit to our office is needed as a result of an emergency situation. We are happy to see new patients and care for their emergency needs. By helping you take care of immediate problems now, we can help you avoid more serious and expensive issues down the road. At emergency visits: we will assess the nature of the emergency, complete a limited exam of that area and take any needed X-rays. We will provide you with options that you have to treat the condition and help relieve pain, swelling or irritation that is occurring. Our office does believe in comprehensive care, so we will also encourage you to then return to our office for our first visit comprehensive exam that is explained in the above text.

Open Communication

We believe that good dental care begins with open communication. We promise to speak candidly with you about our diagnosis and recommendations, any alternative treatments, and any symptoms present that may require treatment from a specialist. Working together, we can achieve a true partnership, with one common goal – keeping your smile beautiful and your teeth, gums and jaw joints healthy!
