Nitrous Oxide

If you are one of the people who avoid necessary dental care due to the anxiety and fear of going to the dentist, nitrous oxide may be the answer you have been waiting for!

Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax. Nitrous oxide, sometimes called “laughing gas,” is one option Dr. Sayrs may offer to help make you more comfortable during certain procedures. The gas is administered with a mixture of oxygen and has a calming effect that helps phobic or anxious patients relax during their dental treatment. Because it is a mild sedative, patients are still conscious and can talk to their dentist during their visit. After treatment, the nitrous oxide gas is turned off, and oxygen is administered. This allows the effects of the nitrous oxide to wear off almost immediately.

If you are anxious and nervous about your dental appointment, please speak to Dr. Sayrs about the option to use nitrous oxide during your dental visit.
